Madonna at prayer (1609-1685)
Giovanni Battista Salvi, better known as Sassoferrato, was a master of devotion and light. His work "Madonna at Prayer" is a prime example of his ability to capture spiritual calm and inner contemplation on canvas. The Madonna, in a moment of silent contemplation, is bathed in a soft, celestial light that envelops her features with an almost unearthly softness. The fine details of her veil and the delicate shading of her skin testify to Sassoferrato's unsurpassed technique and his deep understanding of the representation of the divine.
Interesting fact: Sassoferrato was known for often creating his works in an almost meditative state, which may explain why his Madonna paintings exude such calm. A lesser-known detail of his life is that he never married and devoted his life to art and religion. He was a great admirer of Raphael and copied many of his works to perfect his technique. These copies are so sought after today that they are often confused with the originals.

We only use original and high-quality pigment ink which contains real pigment particles. This is UV-resistant, solvent-free, vegan and environmentally friendly.
UV & moisture resistant
Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
