Troll under the starry sky (1882-1918)
John Bauer, a Swedish artist known for his magical illustrations, takes us into a world of mysticism and fantasy with "Troll under a Starry Sky". In this work, created around 1915, we see a troll resting under a sparkling starry sky. The soft, earthy tones and detailed depiction of nature create an atmosphere that is both calming and mysterious. Often inspired by the deep forests and folklore of Sweden, Bauer captures the essence of Nordic myths with an unparalleled delicacy and depth.
Interesting fact: John Bauer had a particular love for the Swedish countryside, which he often explored on long hikes. What is less well known is that he originally aspired to a career as a portrait painter before turning to illustration. Tragically, his life ended far too soon when he died in a shipping accident on Lake Vättern in 1918. His works, however, live on and inspire generations of artists and dreamers.

We use extra-heavy (400g/m2) premium canvas made from 100% cotton. The high grammage and texture of the canvas ensures a particularly high-quality and almost three-dimensional appearance.
Environmentally friendly
We only use original and high-quality pigment ink which contains real pigment particles. This is UV-resistant, solvent-free, vegan and environmentally friendly.
UV & moisture resistant
Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
