Tiger box-shaped (1937)
Eduard Wiiralt, an Estonian master of printmaking, created a fascinating example of his ability to tame wild nature into geometric shapes with his 1937 work "Tiger Box-Shaped". The tiger depicted in this etching seems to be trapped in a cubist cage, as if caught in a surreal dream by Picasso. Known for his detailed and often surreal works, Wiiralt shows here his penchant for merging nature and abstraction. The lines are so precise that one almost feels as if the tiger could break out of its geometric prison at any moment.
Interesting fact: Eduard Wiiralt was not only a gifted artist, but also a man with an adventurous life. He spent much of his career in Paris, where he moved in the vibrant artistic circles of the 1920s and 1930s. A lesser-known detail is that Wiiralt was interned in a German labor camp during World War II, where he continued to create art despite the adverse conditions. His works from this period are a testament to his unwavering creativity and indomitable spirit.

Print medium
We use extra-heavy (400g/m2) premium canvas made from 100% cotton. The high grammage and texture of the canvas ensures a particularly high-quality and almost three-dimensional appearance.
Environmentally friendly
We only use original and high-quality pigment ink which contains real pigment particles. This is UV-resistant, solvent-free, vegan and environmentally friendly.
UV & moisture resistant
Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
