In this scene from Helge Kjellin's "The Tale of Bull Moose Skutt and Little Princess Tuvstarr" from the 1913 book "Among Elves and Trolls", we see little Princess Tuvstarr sitting dreamily on a rock while the mighty bull moose Skutt stands watchfully by her side. Dusk is falling over the forest and the first stars are starting to twinkle, giving the illustration a mystical yet calming atmosphere. Bauer's masterful use of light and shadow as well as his attention to detail make this work a timeless classic of Scandinavian art.
Interesting fact:
John Bauer, a Swedish artist, was known for his illustrations of fairy tales and legends. What many do not know is that he had a deep fascination with nature, which he often captured in his works. Tragically, his life ended far too soon when he died in a shipwreck on Lake Vättern in 1918. Ironically, he was on his way to a new phase of life, as he and his family were about to move into a new home.

Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
