Norwegian Gyrfalcon (1866)
Joseph Wolf, an outstanding 19th century animal illustrator, created the stunning Norwegian Gyrfalcon in 1866. Known for his exceptional ability to depict animals in their natural environment, Wolf captures the majestic presence of the Norwegian Gyrfalcon in this work. Using fine lines and meticulous detail, he depicts the falcon in a dynamic pose that emphasizes both its strength and elegance. Interesting fact: Joseph Wolf was born in Germany but spent most of his career in England, where he was considered one of the leading animal illustrators of his time. What many people don't know is that Wolf originally trained as a lithographer and only later discovered his passion for animal illustration. He worked with some of the most renowned naturalists of his time, including Charles Darwin. Wolf was known for his humor and unconventional approach to work; he is said to have often worked with live animals in his studio to better understand and depict their movements and behaviors.

We use extra-heavy (400g/m2) premium canvas made from 100% cotton. The high grammage and texture of the canvas ensures a particularly high-quality and almost three-dimensional appearance.
Environmentally friendly
We only use original and high-quality pigment ink which contains real pigment particles. This is UV-resistant, solvent-free, vegan and environmentally friendly.
UV & moisture resistant
Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
