The Good Witch (1907)
John Bauer's "De gömda nötterna" from 1907 transports the viewer to an enchanting world full of magic and mystery. In this work, Bauer shows his masterful ability to transform Nordic mythology and folklore into vivid images. The soft, earthy tones and the detailed depiction of nature create an atmosphere that is both calming and mysterious. The hidden nuts found in the painting symbolize the hidden treasures and secrets that lie dormant in nature and in the stories of the Nordic peoples.
Fun fact: John Bauer, born in 1882 in Jönköping, Sweden, was not only a gifted illustrator but also an adventurer. What is less well known is that he had a passion for travel and was inspired by his explorations in Lapland and Italy. These trips profoundly influenced his art and helped him create the mystical atmosphere that makes his works so unique. Tragically, Bauer's life ended far too soon when he died in a shipping accident in Lake Vättern in 1918.

We use extra-heavy (400g/m2) premium canvas made from 100% cotton. The high grammage and texture of the canvas ensures a particularly high-quality and almost three-dimensional appearance.
Environmentally friendly
We only use original and high-quality pigment ink which contains real pigment particles. This is UV-resistant, solvent-free, vegan and environmentally friendly.
UV & moisture resistant
Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
