Lily Giant Himalayan Lily (1880)
Walter Hood Fitch was an outstanding botanical illustrator of the 19th century whose works remain highly valued in botanical circles today. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1817, Fitch began his career as a printer before discovering his passion for botanical illustration. He worked closely with the famous botanist Sir William Jackson Hooker and eventually became the main illustrator for the "Curtis's Botanical Magazine". Fitch's illustrations are characterized by their precision and attention to detail, making them valuable scientific documentation. The 1880 work "Lily Giant Himalayan Lily" shows the majestic beauty of the Himalayan lily, a plant known for its impressive size and fragrant flowers.
Fun Fact: Walter Hood Fitch was known for his incredible productivity. Over the course of his career, he created over 10,000 botanical illustrations, a number that is impressive even by today's standards. A lesser-known fact is that despite his enormous contributions to botanical art, Fitch never received any formal training in botany. His ability to depict plants in such detail was due to his natural talent and his extensive collaboration with leading botanists of his time. These partnerships enabled him to develop a deep understanding of the plant world that is clearly evident in his illustrations.

We use extra-heavy (400g/m2) premium canvas made from 100% cotton. The high grammage and texture of the canvas ensures a particularly high-quality and almost three-dimensional appearance.
Environmentally friendly
We only use original and high-quality pigment ink which contains real pigment particles. This is UV-resistant, solvent-free, vegan and environmentally friendly.
UV & moisture resistant
Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
