Rhinoceron (1515)
Albrecht Dürer's "Rhinocerus" from 1515 is a woodcut graphic depicting an Indian rhinoceros. This artwork is based on a written description and a sketch of a rhinoceros that arrived in Lisbon and that Dürer never saw in person. Despite the lack of accuracy in the anatomical depiction, with additional armor plates and a small horn on the back, the image became very popular and shaped the European image of the rhinoceros for centuries. Dürer's ability to convey texture and form made the work a masterpiece of woodcut art of its time.
Interesting fact: The rhinoceros that inspired Dürer was a gift from the Indian governor to the Portuguese King Manuel I. It was the first live rhinoceros to arrive in Europe since Roman times, and its arrival caused a great stir. Unfortunately, the animal did not survive the journey to Rome, as it perished in a shipwreck.

We use extra-heavy (400g/m2) premium canvas made from 100% cotton. The high grammage and texture of the canvas ensures a particularly high-quality and almost three-dimensional appearance.
Environmentally friendly
We only use original and high-quality pigment ink which contains real pigment particles. This is UV-resistant, solvent-free, vegan and environmentally friendly.
UV & moisture resistant
Thanks to the UV resistance of our pigment inks, the prints do not fade or discolor and retain their color brilliance for up to 100 years.
